History Charotar Gas
The Charotar Gas Sahakari Mandali Ltd was registered under Co-operative Act somewhere in 1998 for performing natural gas distribution in surrounding area of Anand. In 1998, MD of Interlink Petroleum Limited Baroda approached to Shri Chimanbhai Patel (Sathikaka) MD of Charotar Nagrik Sahakari Bank Anand to ask for loan to install natural gas pipeline from Bavda ONGC well to Ahmedabad city for transportation of natural gas to surrounding of Ahmedabad by pipeline for various Domestic, Commercial and Industrial purpose.
Young and dynamic team of commercial and technical directors started working on this project of laying 68 KM long cross country pipeline from Bavda to Bakrol in 1999. We cross Sabarmati and Vatrak rivers, national highway, many irrigation canals, Indian railways and private farms. We paid cash compensation to the farmers against some damage to their crop. After lots of struggles and considerable delay in obtaining Western railway permission to cross Nadiad Bhadran railway line, we commissioned this gas line after necessary hydro test, lick test and nitrogen purging. We first time flare on 23-June-2001 at Bakrol Pressure Reducing Station Anand.

With the support of very active industrialists and industrial association, knowing value and economy using natural gas started supporting Charotar Gas for installation of piped natural gas in their industries in GIDC and surrounding area. Also we started laying of pipe in downstream network and moving from street to street to convince domestic customers, the benefit and safety of using natural gas. Our first year turnover was Rs 1.08 Crores.
